Gwathmey Legacy Expanded

Nestled in the Amagansett dunes, facing south toward the Atlantic Ocean, the Gwathmey Legacy project was a full renovation-addition performed on the existing failing structure. Designed by the late architect, Charlie Gwathmey, the goal of this legacy project was to keep within the original grid on which the house was designed, while updating the scope to fit a 21st century beach house for a young couple. Designs for Phase II of the project include a central, naturally greenscaped courtyard, continuing the High Modern aesthetic of the original structure. The overall result is a celebration of Gwathmey’s genius: the materiality and scope of work strive to highlight his masterful attention to detail and livability in residential architecture.
