Located directly on the water in Bellport, Long Island, the concept was to create a two-story boathouse that can withstand the elements but seemingly be an open and refreshing structure. The first floor is an enclosed space enveloped with a cedar board rainscreen. Emerging from the bermed earth, the second floor takes its cues from the layout of a ship. The mahogany deck is open to the elements and is complete with a galley-like kitchen that emerges from the “cockpit” where built-in seating allows for a place to entertain.
