Every location has its own unique character. By developing an intimate knowledge of a place and our clients who will inhabit it, we create indoor and outdoor spaces that are materially responsive and contextually sensitive. Artfully sculpting the land, we blend our work into the existing context. Growing and changing with the surrounding environment, our work becomes synonymous with the place creating timeless and unique experiences.

Timeless architecture is entwined with the natural fabric of each place.

AIA, Founder

Nick Martin, AIA, brings a multifaceted background in architecture and design. Early roles at Gwathmey Siegel, Gabellini Sheppard Associates, and Wood and Zapata helped him cultivate a refined modernist sensibility and a lasting appreciation for historic structures.

Raised by a writer and banker father and an archaeologist and painter mother, Nick was “world-schooled” across the U.S., Europe, and South America. Immersed in ancient cities and diverse cultures, he developed a deep fascination with how architecture shapes experience.

In 1998, he founded Martin Architects, specializing in high-end residential, retail, and gallery design. Licensed in architecture, general contracting, and real estate, he leads an integrated team spanning architecture, engineering, construction, and landscape design, into a fully collaborative process.

A passionate environmentalist, Nick weaves sustainable principles into every project, grounded in the understanding that each site contains its own unique legacy and microclimate to preserve.

hearts
and minds

Martin Architects takes pride in its collaborations with notable artists, craftsmen, urban planners, and architects — including Jobe Moore and other respected peers in the Hamptons and across the country. These partnerships support an evolving dialogue between design, craft, and community.

In addition to its sister construction company, 4MA Builders, MA maintains a close collaboration with MCX Master Planning, a venture focused on large-scale, research-driven investment. Most recently, MA has joined forces with AML Studio, expanding its reach and furthering its mission to promote environmentally conscious architecture nationwide — including the territories of Aspen, Colorado, and Los Angeles, California. More to come on MLprojects.
